ABOUT
The NomoNomo project brought a highly detailed design vision to life for a new restaurant in Vancouver’s Commercial Drive community. The goal was to create a visually striking and memorable dining space that elevates the guest experience while remaining highly functional for a fast-paced, high-traffic environment. The result is a standout addition to the neighbourhood that balances design, atmosphere, and operational efficiency.
GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
The objective was to execute a design-driven restaurant space with a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and detail, while ensuring it functioned seamlessly for daily service. A key challenge was delivering a large volume of custom work within a tight construction timeline, requiring close coordination between multiple trades and precise on-site execution to maintain the design intent.
CUSTOM MILLWORK AND BUILT IN FEATURES
Extensive custom millwork and built-in elements play a defining role in the identity of the space. These features required a high level of precision and craftsmanship, helping establish a cohesive design language throughout the restaurant.
LIGHTING DESIGN AND ATMOSPHERE
A carefully layered lighting plan was executed to create a specific mood throughout the space. Multiple lighting elements were integrated to balance ambiance and functionality, enhancing the overall dining experience while maintaining operational clarity for staff.
MATERIAL AND FINISH COORDINATION
A key component of the project was the seamless coordination of diverse materials and finishes. Each trade was carefully aligned to ensure all design elements came together cohesively, accurately reflecting the original design vision in the final build.
The finished NomoNomo space delivers on both design impact and functionality, resulting in a refined, detail-rich restaurant environment. The clients were extremely pleased with the outcome, particularly the craftsmanship and the accuracy of execution against the original design intent.
